Project located in West Hartford, CT.  This project was done over a span of two years, and a series of different projects to get it all put together, and all the finishing touches.  The client wanted a Japanese style garden in their backyard, so we put pencil to paper and developed a landscape plan that was exactly what they were looking for.
As you can see in the photos, there are many different elements in the overall design, but some of are the symbolic water feature, beach sand Zen garden, bluestone bridges, two patios, several sitting areas, and plenty to look at!  As this design continues to grow and develop it will become even more of a mystery that it is now, the plantings will completely hide the mulch, and around every turn there is something new to look at.  Overall each landscape element helps create the different rooms and feelings in this garden, from the beautiful ‘Sango Kaku’ Japanese Maple to the Stonedust walking paths.
A beautiful design to be enjoyed for years to come!

Project located in West Hartford, CT.  Existing landscaping was completely overgrown, and the walkway was uneven and crumbling.  We transplanted the 12-14ft rhododendrons into the backyard for screening, as well as many of the other plantings.  We then installed a new curved retaining wall, new bluestone steps, new brick walkway connecting both doors of the house, and a full landscape planting design.  Project came out awesome, add in the low-voltage lighting system and this house really stands out!

Project located in Glastonbury, CT.  This client came to us with a problem.  Someone was going to begin developing the land behind their property, and they were looking to be proactive and install some plantings to screen the future development.

We developed a thoughtful landscape design, based on the plans for the development and the locations of the new homes, as well as their major site lines to them.  As a result plantings were chosen for specific reasons, and sizes were increased to be more of an instant screen.  Beautiful Norway Spruces were installed along with ‘Green Giant’ Arborvitae that can reach 40ft, and a wonderful Weeping Alaskan Cedar.  Planted in front of that were a great mix of smaller shrubs and perennials to add a huge amounts of color to the property.

Project located in West Hartford, CT.   Project included removal of an old patio on the left of the front door, and removal of the front step and walkway.  We then replaced the front step with a new step with antique brick riser, a chocolate bluestone step tread, and lilac bluestone landing.  We replace the walkway with irregular lilac bluestone as well.  New simple front foundation planting, and hydro-seeded the lawn rounded out this project.

In a separate project on site, we installed an aluminum fence/gate with a pier that matched the front step.  New backyard planting design was also installed.

Project located in Rocky Hill, CT.  The existing pool had no pool decking or patio space surrounding it when we were called.  There were many different designs done, and design changes implemented during the construction phase, but overall our client came away with the pool environment that they wanted.  We used beautiful granite for the entire project, which ended up looking really nice with the green lawn and blue pool.  Curved retaining walls, to pick up the curve of the pool, and steps were installed to terrace the backyard was more level.  Overall it ended up with three large sitting areas around the pool, and a large entertaining area off the walkout basement.  Installation of a new sod lawn, boulders, and screening of the pool equipment finished this project.

Project located in Glastonbury, CT.  Project was a complete removal of their backyard, as you can see the changes.  We installed a Unilock Pisa II block wall in place of the white fence.  A beautiful full color bluestone patio, was installed over the septic tank clean-out, but designed to still allow access for cleaning.  Installation of sod, low-voltage lighting, and some plantings were done also.

We have also installed a front planting design for this client, and the year after the backyard work came back and installed plantings above the wall to put the finishing touches on this transformation.

Project located in West Hartford, CT.  This project was a complete landscape design of the front of the house.  We started by removing everything including the concrete walkway, and the aged slate front entry.  We then created a grand entrance that was better suited for the style of this house, with bluestone walks to the driveway and street, all off a circular the circular entry.  Narrow European Hornbeams anchor the entirely new planting plan on either corner of the house, along with a low-voltage lighting system, really makes this property stand out.

Project located in Avon, CT.  Originally from the street you could barely see the house, with overgrown plantings, and some poorly placed trees.  On such a quiet street there really was no need for the blockage.  So we came in and opened it all up, with a landscape design that reworked the entire front of the property.  A new curved entrance to the front door, with a new front step, made it more inviting.  We also created a space to enjoy the front yard and be able to keep a watchful eye on the children, essentially a front patio, but integrated into the overall design.  Complete planting design, low-voltage lighting system, and hydro-seeded lawn completed the work.

Project located in Avon, CT.   Project was a bunch of different projects over the entire property, but the focus was the front foundation and creating some curb appeal.  There was a scale issue with the property, and by adding height to the wall, planting plants that were larger, helped fix this problem.  Really nice 6ft hollies were placed near the front door, with focal points such as the hinoki cypress as you come up the steps at the driveway.

Project located in West Hartford, CT.  This was part of a master plan that was install all at once, with planting design, new patio, two new walkways, and a seating wall.  The existing patio was all old bluestone that we reused to make the other two walkways on the property.  The existing wall was like a pancake (wide and short), and had no smooth surface on top, which made it very awkward as a seat wall.  We took down the existing wall, installed the proper footings, and rebuild it as a slender seat wall with a beautiful bluestone cap.  The plantings were designed to offer color and textural highlights while offering screening from neighboring traffic.

Project located in West Hartford, CT.  This client had virtually nothing in the front yard, other that your typical straight walk with lawn on both sides.  They were looking to change that with less lawn, and a walk leading them to the driveway, where they walked the most.  We removed the existing walk and steps, and installed new ones.  The walkway itself became one of the front steps.  We raised the walk to create a step at the driveway and one less step at the house, and by doing so; we changed a level yard into a sloping, more interesting one.  This also allowed for a neat sunken sitting area, that, when you are sitting in it the plantings block the street yet allow you to still feel like you are a part of it all.

This was all done with Unilock Pavers and Wall Stone.  It was also a good idea to change the front door color with everything else that was done.

Project located in West Hartford, CT.  This project was the installation of a large bluestone patio, along with some drainage, lawn hydro-seeding, mulching.  We also installed the 4ft aluminum fence with gates.

Interesting during excavation for the patio we found an old foundation below the surface, that couldn’t be determined what it was originally

Project located in Southington, CT.  Project was actually a phased implementation of a master plan.  First we installed a front foundation planting plan.  Then we installed a boulder retaining wall in the front continuing to the side yard where we then installed large granite boulder slab steps leading to the backyard.

Project located in Bristol, CT.  Client had an existing hillside that was an eye sore; we came in a built a burgundy hill granite seat wall with a planting design for the hillside.  This allowed the wall to become seating for the backyard, and the curling of the wall created a great little space for a firepit.

Project located in Avon, CT.  Project included the installation of a hillside planting design. This is a great example for hydro-seeding, and planting design over the years.  Since hydro-seeding really takes a few years to see the full results, you can see in the photos the difference a year makes!

Project located in Somers, CT.  Our client came to us looking to connect the many different entrances to their wrap around deck, as well as a solution to the pile of vintage brownstone that was on site.  A simple walkway was developed to connect entrances, with the brownstone used as some steps.  The remaining brownstone we used to create a sunken pea stone sitting area, which came out really nice.  The property is very large with no real definition of space, so by creating this sitting area, it carves out a nice intimate sitting are a.  Future plantings will complete this project, which the homeowner is in the process of doing.

Project located in West Hartford, CT.  This site had some odd dimensions to it, in the before picture only about half of the lawn area is their property.  The existing deck was removed and we installed a new set of steps with a patio to enlarge the space.  By keeping the patio level with the lawn, it made the entire space feel larger.  We also installed a nice planting design for the backyard, as well as the front yard.  The front lawn was hydro-seeded and looks great.

Karianne and I wanted to thank you for the excellent work you and your team did landscaping our front yard.  You came highly recommended and did nothing to diminish your reputation.  The designs that you provided nicely incorporated some of the ideas, which we had with your knowledge and creativity.  We appreciated being intimately involved in this process.   The estimate, which you provided, was fair and we liked the "a la carte" aspect of it (even though we ultimately realized that we would get the best results from having you guys do everything).  The recommendations, which you provided for lighting and irrigation, were also great.  When work started the crew was professional, neat and timely.  Things went quickly and without any drama.  Once work was done every neighbor felt obliged to stop by to tell us how great the yard looked.  Although this was not our original intent, it sure felt nice.  We felt good passing on your name to them and hopefully we'll see the "Earth Landscape" sign up on other yards in the neighborhood this spring.

Thanks again for everything and we look forward to working with you again.

Sincerely,
Drs. Adam and Karianne Silverman,
